Apophenia: the movie

A short film shot on a whim, and the beginning of my research into Apophenia the show Shot by Ynez Myers. Depicted is a frayed wanderer, a foul fool, a failure, a thespian whisperer, whose constant quest for feeling anything, reminds them, in exquisite wonder, that they are nothing.

APOPHENIA. A constant work of evolving hyperrchaos.

Apophenia is an ode to the Goddess of Chaos, ERIS. The all eternal opposite upside down open mouth hyper hypocritical power beast. The apple giver, the debaser of order, the deep lake dweller.

I have been working on this piece for over two years, playing various incarnations of it at festivals, cabarets, on street corners and in abandoned buildings. It aims to assess an ever eternal struggle at the simple task of being. Predominantly unscripted and aggressively shifting, this one woman clownish, foolish, absurdish, nonsenseish, miss mash of musikness, magik and madness encourages the embracing of the eternal nothingness of our being, and in turn, seeing that to be our greatest freedom.

This hyperstitious haemoglobin with no end and a forgotten beginning, but previously played at Buddhafield Festival, Boomtown, Naughty Cabaret, Appetite Festival and more.

UNLEARNING MASTERY

Debuting this year at Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Meet Elijah - a lonely boy in a world drained of meaning, an intellectual and wannabe politician, a mirror to the dark undercurrents of Western masculinity. In this riotously funny and unsettling one-woman show, the sacred chaos of clown and bouffon collides with the cold machinery of modern politics. From the rise of incel culture to the quiet allure of fascist ideals among young men, this piece is surreal, savage, and weirdly tender - a Machiavellian circus where nothing is sacred and everything's a joke… until it isn't.
